New Castle School of Trades

East Liverpool, OH

Deteriorated to the point of demolition, this former five and dime department store on Main Street in East Liverpool, OH got a new life as the New Castle School of Trades. Arkinetics worked with the vocational school to obtain historic tax credits and renovate the existing building to become a for-profit vocational school. The building was originally constructed in 1880. Now, the school accommodates 51,000 SF of welding and commercial industrial maintenance classrooms. The New Castle School of Trades is the catalyst for future developments in the historic town of East Liverpool. Led by Arkinetics’ principal and project manager, Robert Powell, architectural design scope included classrooms, workshops, a computer lab, library, and administrative offices. The project was made possible in part through Ohio Historic Tax Credits and is a catalyst for future downtown improvements and developments.
